Privacy Policy

Last updated: October 8, 2026

1. Introduction

PhyFun ("we", "us", "our") operates the website phyfun.com, a focused catalog of browser-based physics games. We also publish a small number of original mobile games on the iOS App Store. This Privacy Policy covers both the website and the mobile apps.

By using PhyFun's website or mobile games, you agree to the practices described below.

Part A — Website (phyfun.com)

This section applies to everything you do in a web browser on phyfun.com.

2. Information We Collect (Website)

We try to keep the amount of data we collect to a minimum. The information we may process when you visit phyfun.com includes:

  • Usage data — pages you visit, games you open, time spent on the site, the referring URL. Collected in aggregate to help us understand which games are popular.
  • Device and technical data — browser type, operating system, screen size, approximate location from your IP (typically country level), and language preference.
  • Interaction data — like/dislike votes on game pages. Votes are anonymous and stored with a short hashed identifier so the same browser cannot vote twice on the same game.
  • Cookies and local storage — small files stored by your browser that remember preferences, keep your votes consistent, and support advertising described in section 4.
  • My Physics learning data — favorites, recently opened experiments, predictions, recorded model runs, learning-path progress, and weekly challenge completion. This data is stored locally in your browser and is not submitted to a PhyFun account or database.

We do not ask you to create an account for the website, and we do not collect your name, email address, phone number, or payment information for web use. We do not knowingly collect data from children under 13.

2A. My Physics, Shared Setups, and Offline Use

My Physics reconstructs your dashboard from browser local storage. You can export this learning data as a JSON file or clear it from the My Physics page. Clearing site data in your browser also removes it.

When you share an experiment setup or challenge, the URL contains only the current control values and the challenge identifier. Predictions, notes, saved runs, favorites, and completion history are not added to the shared URL.

If you install PhyFun or use it offline, a service worker may cache site pages and static assets on your device. Browser settings can remove this cache. Embedded physics models do not require a student account and retain visible attribution to the full PhyFun experiment.

3. How We Use Website Information

  • Deliver game pages and keep the site running reliably.
  • Understand which games and categories are popular.
  • Prevent abuse, spam votes, and automated scraping.
  • Display relevant advertising from approved partners.
  • Comply with our legal obligations.

We never sell personal information, and we do not use collected data to build individual user profiles.

4. Third-Party Services on the Website

  • Google AdSense — displays advertising on phyfun.com. Google and its partners may use cookies and similar technologies to serve ads based on your prior visits to this and other sites. You can opt out of personalized advertising at google.com/settings/ads or aboutads.info.
  • Google Analytics — helps us understand aggregated traffic patterns. IP addresses are anonymized where supported.
  • Game providers — many games on phyfun.com are embedded as iframes from game distribution networks (primarily GameDistribution). When a game is loaded, those providers may set their own cookies and process technical data under their own privacy policies.

5. Cookies (Website)

Cookies are used on phyfun.com to remember your preferences, keep your like/dislike votes consistent, and serve advertising. Most browsers allow you to block or delete cookies through their settings. If you disable cookies, parts of the site such as voting and personalized ads may not work as expected.

Part B — Mobile Games

This section applies to separate mobile games published by PhyFun through the iOS App Store.

6. Information Collected (Mobile Apps)

Advertising (Google AdMob): Our free mobile games use Google AdMob to display advertisements. AdMob may collect device identifiers (such as IDFA on iOS) for ad serving. This data is not linked to your identity. Tracking for advertising occurs only where permitted by platform rules and with user consent where required (for example App Tracking Transparency on iOS).

Game Data: Game progress, settings, and unlocked items are stored locally on your device. We do not require an account to play, and no game data is transmitted to our servers.

In-App Purchases: Purchase processing is handled entirely by Apple. We receive aggregate sales reporting only — no payment information, card numbers, or personal details.

7. How We Use Mobile App Information

  • To display advertisements in the free versions of our games
  • To save your game progress locally on your device
  • To improve stability and gameplay

8. Your Rights (Mobile Apps)

You may limit ad tracking through your device settings (iOS: Settings → Privacy & Security → Tracking). You may uninstall the app at any time to remove all locally stored data.

Part C — Both Website and Mobile Apps

9. Data Retention

Aggregated website analytics data is retained for up to 26 months. Like/dislike votes are retained as long as the related game remains on PhyFun. Server logs are rotated regularly and typically kept for no more than 90 days. Mobile app data stored on your device is retained until you uninstall the app or clear the app's data.

10. Your General Rights

Depending on where you live, you may have rights under laws such as the GDPR (European Union) or the CCPA (California) to request access, correction, or deletion of personal data. Because PhyFun does not collect account-level personal data in either the website or the mobile apps, most requests relate to cookies and advertising identifiers, which you can manage through your browser settings and the Google ad settings linked above. You can also contact us using the details on the Contact page.

11. Children's Privacy

PhyFun is designed to be family-friendly. Our mobile games are rated 4+ (Everyone). We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13 in either the website or the mobile apps. Parents and guardians who believe their child has provided personal information to PhyFun should contact us so we can remove it.

12. Security

We take reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect the limited data we do collect, including HTTPS across the website and regular software updates. No method of internet transmission is 100% secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security.

13. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we make material changes, we will update the "Last updated" date at the top of this page. Continued use of PhyFun's website or mobile games after changes become effective means you accept the revised policy.

14. Contact Us

If you have questions about this Privacy Policy or how PhyFun handles your information, please visit our Contact page or email [email protected].
